A friend of ours, Ryan Paul James, has written a play about the world of ART that runs this weekend through next in Pacific Palisades (Los Angeles.)
He is a great comedy writer and I’m sure this one will be a smash. Graciously offering to bring some attention to Vernon’s cause, he is putting some of our family artwork in the gallery-setting of the stage. Here are a few…
These are some of Vernon’s “works in progress.” I couldn’t tell they were not finished so I just put them up on the walls anyway. If you have a problem with this, Vern, you can complete them when you get home. Make it a goal.
A newly discovered Jean Michelle Basquiat. Er…I mean, Justine Harper Adams.
They have put a few on mine up in the show as well. Here is a blast from my past.
Maki is a fantastic painter too, but he was out of town so could not be reached for his contribution. I have seen some of his artwork made this summer in New Zealand, though. So good!
If you are interested in seeing the show, please click HERE for info. Half-price tickets are available for this weekend if you enter “008” at checkout.
ABSTRACTION Runs
Fri, Aug 08 – Sun, Aug 17
Friday & Saturdays 8PM

As for Vernon today…he continues to show signs of improvement…lots of activity on his left side, more mini-smiles on request, and he even mouthed a couple of words (I think) which I may share later. Feels too close to the heart today. Bear with us.

Fervently praying!! I would LOVE to see your artwork that is going up at the show, too! Sending love to you and Vernon and Justine, and Maki in New Zealand. Missing you.
I added one, you’ve probably seen that one before, Katherine. Miss you too…so much, especially now.
Beautiful art. What a shame Maki missed out of showing something. Justine just makes the colours flow, I love her paintings, hopefully noone kills off her spark by teaching her to Paint – Daniel had an amazing way of drawing With his fist (holding the pencil in the fist), but when he started School, he was thought how to hold the pencil and Draw wispy lines. The drawings dont look the same, and the joy is gone a bit, but its getting better again after a year in School. Maki has totally moved into 3-d Construction, making amazing lego stuff – and Daniel is over the moon having the lego upgraded to another Level. (Jenni is very happy painting rocks blue – she is planning to make Olav from frozen.) Looking forward to seeing you soon. The ticket Vernon originally got for Maki to come back to America was on sunday coming up. New tickets planned for 1. September now, I will get them in the weekend. Lots of love.
Have you seen any of the abstracts by Marla Olmsted who was featured painting when she was four? There was controversy about whether her father “helped” too much, but some of her paintings sold for thousands of dollars. There’s a documentary called “My Kid can paint that..” or something like that. Perhaps, Justine can be the big fund-raiser for Vernon’s hospital bills. We are planning to see Ryan’s play NEXT week end. Still praying for all of you.
ART…. as always at the front of what the family does….have always loved the painting you have shared above…. i am lucky enough to have two of your pictures, a few of my mums and a couple of my nannas delicate water colours ..but have nothing of verns!! Mum and dad have a few of verns up on the walls at home..two being from school ..the ~ boys playing the piano in a church , and the sea scape, with seagulls flying..there is something very calming about his two paintings..would you like me to send photos of these???
keep up the creating, love justines~so full of life and colour , and cannot wait to see maki`s too, xx love to you all xx
Thank you so much for allowing us to show off you and your family’s beautiful art! I will send you a pic of how it’s all laid out on the “Abstraction” stage. Ryan tells me if looks so much better than he could’ve imagined and brings so much class to the show. Luv u!
