Tomorrow is July 23rd. Vernon’s life-changing accident happened on May 23rd. So in honor of the 23rd, I’m posting a public service announcement…an important reminder to all of us, no matter how you travel.
Isn’t this a great design? I discovered this small business-with-a-message after Trevor, the owner, sent me some bumper stickers along with a donation.
Since then, I’ve ordered a couple of t-shirts as well. I wear mine with conviction because I know its a reminder we all need, especially as the streets get busier and the cars get bigger. The bigger the vehicle we are in, the safer we feel…but it makes the little guy less visible. The two-wheeled travelers are more vulnerable than ever.
Look twice. Then look again. Every rider has a valuable life and a family who loves them.
I was told by a nurse this weekend that she is seeing more motorcyclists in the surgical unit than usual. Maybe because it’s summer. Maybe the riders are being especially risky. But most likely, they just aren’t being seen. Nobody gets into an accident on purpose.
If you are interested in ordering inexpensive yet effective stickers or t-shirts from Trevor’s company, check out his website here.
As he says: His mission is not for bikers – It is about bikers.
Stay safe, everyone!

Hi, Allison
Thank you so much for all your updates about Vernon We (and our prayer partners) prayed today today again and also praised God for the progress.
In regards to your post, I really think it is a good idea to post this. We have very often accidents and often death of motorcyclists, not always the cars fault but it’s still tragic. In Arizona there is no helmet law so not everybody wears one, which is even worse. The highways and main streets have many warnings to watch out for motorcycle riders. Love you all, and continue to pray. Ingrid for the both of us
Yes, they have signs like that all over LA but not in Orange County, and I think the relaxed beach attitude here tends to make people even more ‘dreamy’ as they drive. I’m not saying that was the case with Vernon and the other driver. But I see it happen all the time. People daydreaming and forgetting to signal, look, etc. Thank goodness for helmet laws here…I’m absolutely certain Vernon would not be alive without one.
That said…I have to be careful not to cast the first stone. We all get distracted. I thought I was a careful driver before, but I’m trying to be even more defensive now. This is a reminder for me too…
Allison, you and Vernon are really in my thoughts every day. In fact just this evening I had an unanticipated and delightful in person meeting in San Francisco with the incredibly talented designers Stan and Neha from MetaDesign who worked with me for some considerable time to come up with this logo for our company. My introduction to them was as unlikely and serendipitous as my finding out about Vernon’s tragic accident through your Instagram account. I told them how Vernon had inadvertently become the poster child for my mission and how quickly this simple design is beginning to gain traction and become the recognized symbol of increasing motorcycle awareness – You are now inextricably linked to this mission, and will always be recognized for it long after Vernon is back on his feet and leading a completely normal life again.
For anyone reading this that is interested in purchasing merchandise from our website to help get the message out – please hold off. I am going to amend our site tomorrow (when I get back from my trip) with a special promotion to offer a 20% discount on all merchandise purchased from tomorrow through the end of August and will donate 10% of all funds received in that period to Vernon’s recovery fund.
Keep lifting those arms and giving us the thumbs up Vernon – you are making great progress!
Thank you, Trevor. That is very generous of you! I am trying to get your design out to some vintage bike shops as well. Hope they pick up the message.
thankyou Trever for doing this for my brother , you must be a very special person… could you tell me do you post to ENGLAND?? if so can you let me know the p&p , then i can spread the word this side of the pond!! of cause i would love to puchase a t shirt and some stickers .. bike riders are getting killed and badly injured every day on our roads here too … there was four deaths, that i know about, on our local roads only last month (one being a co ~worker of my husbands) xx thankyou again xx
Vanessa,
You, Vernon and the rest of the family are in our thoughts. This should never happen. Drivers need to pay attention to what they are doing and what is around them. That’s our simple mission.
I do ship to England (I was actually born and raised there myself, and learned to ride there). Once we have updated the site later today please email me (trevor@bealertforbikers.com) what you would like to order and we will determine shipping prior to you actually placing the order.
Best, Trevor
Vanessa & Allison,

From now until August 31st, we are having a 20% sale on all merchandise – 10% of all paid orders will be collected and then sent to Vernon’s recovery fund. Spread the word and tell all your friends!
Best, Trevor
