I wanted to end/start the year by posting some cathartic message that I didn’t even know I had in me, something about the great lessons of the year just past and my bright hopes for the future. To be honest, 2017 wore me out. It was a transformative time for our family with many bright spots; we are certainly different beings at the end of it than when we started. I suppose we could say that about the year before and the year before…any of us could, but this one seemed particularly metamorphic. For now, it feels as if I’ve I’ve fallen into a little late-holiday gap between the years, and just am enjoying the now and starting the year as gently as possible.
What I can share right now is the beautiful drawing that Maki made me for Christmas. It’s the most precious of my art collection, definitely.
I also have a favorite out of the Justine collection, lets call it our family Christmas card, a little late.
Happy New Year to everyone from us…and may each of us find ourselves better at the end of it than when we started. And may our lives be filled with music.

We are grateful for it all. Peace to you.

Very touching art work by the kids…brought tears to my eyes
They say that if you play piano from reason, from the mind, you’ll reach a mind. If you play, no matter how simple, from the heart, you’ll reach a heart. That’s what comes to mind with the picture of the two at the piano. Lots of heart and soul in expression, I’m sure of it! The working out of one’s interior self through music can be a gift, to both the one playing, and those who listen. A blessed New Year to you and your wonderful family!
Happy New Year Allison and Maki and Justine. We just got back from Denver, Co, to visit Naomi and I want to say how grateful I am to live in a warm place. It was on average about 20 degrees daily, colder at night. I loved the kids artwork and the love that they expressed. One of the cutest things I saw (really) all Christmas was Benson in his new shoes! Camille and Ava and Naomi and her boyfriend, Mike, and Ladeshia all agree! Adorable! Love you much, Nancy
What a blessing Maki and Justine are to us all , so talented and adorable (but then i am biased).. cannot wait for some piano lessons ..maybe some “creative time” and most of all millions of hugs ..i hope we can all find time in “our” week in San Clemente for lots of fun together xx
LOVE TO YOU ALLISON AND THE CHILDREN (oh and Benson)xx
ps loads of coffee and chats with you ofcause xx Bring on 2018 and bright new hopes xx HAPPY NEW YEAR xx
Allison,
So good to see Maki and Justine at a piano and if they learn to play it the will be better for it. We started our 2nd son in piano in the middle of kindergarten and he took lessons until he was in his 2nd of high school. Then he begun to play the guitar. Still have the piano at my house and are keeping it for now. We all 3 took piano but I didn’t stick with it.
Have a great new year for you and Maki and Justine.
Love,
BEcky
Wow! That is a great drawing by Maki. Beautiful. Justine is able to say so much in her drawings too! Happy new year to you! Let it be filled with art, music and all kinds of creativity. X
